Our Spanish Language program is designed to suit your needs. We train independent travelers, high school and college students, Spanish teachers, clergy, health care workers, business executives—anyone with a need and desire to improve their Spanish communication skills. New classes start every Monday of the year and you study for as many weeks as you like.
Class sizes are small, giving all students ample opportunity to speak. Teachers are all native speakers who have been trained and certified in teaching Spanish as a second language. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, you will increase your vocabulary and become more comfortable speaking Spanish in real-life situations.

New Classes Start Every Monday
Our Method
Classes meet Monday through Friday for 4 hours per day. Class sizes are small, with no more than 5 students per class. We stress speaking and listening, with the grammar embedded in the exercises used to develop these skills. Many out of the classroom exercises are included in the weekly program, with teachers frequently taking students to nearby stores, restaurants and other spots to learn situation-specific words and phrases.
We use the textbook series Asi Hablamos, an 8-book series developed by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). It is based on the Common European Reference Framework (CERF) and also ties in with the guidelines of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) which are followed in North America.

Placement in a Class
Before you arrive we will email you a written placement evaluation. Upon arrival we will conduct an oral interview. This gives us the information we need to place you in a class at your level. If there is no one else at your level we will create a new class just for you. Classes are adjusted weekly so that you can move along at your own pace.
My classes were always challenging, yet a ton of fun. Half the time I forgot I was learning and the instructor had to tell us to leave long after the bell had rung.
– Ali Knopic, Spanish teacher
Schedule
Your first week in class, please arrive on Monday morning at 8:45 for the oral interview. Classes run from 9:00 to 1:00, with a 20 minute break at 10:50. At 1:00 students go to their host families for lunch. Other activities and classes are frequently held in the afternoon and evening.
Materials
The Asi Hablamos textbooks and a variety of reference materials are available for sale at the school. Students are also encouraged to use the Cemanahuac Reading and Resources Room which has a large collection of books, journals, periodicals and videos in both English and Spanish.

My two weeks of study at Cemanahuac enriched my life in so many ways! The immersion program made it easy to learn Spanish, and it was fun being surrounded by opportunities to practice.
